Jimmy had used all of his usual justifications in persuading Dave and Lynn Kamer to purchase another horse for their good-riding daughter Caroline. By the time Caroline was ready for this, her third, horse, the sales pitch was getting a little tougher for Jimmy; by then, Dave had already heard most of Jimmy's rationale -- twice. Even so, Jimmy rolled out his tested-and-proven reasons such as, "Dave, this is an investment in Caroline, not in a horse."
Finally, Dave agreed to the purchase. At check-writing time, though, he had a point to make:
"You know, Jimmy, I love you, but I wish I'd never met you."
